There are desserts that whisper romance — and then there are desserts that buzz.
These blondies get a little extra something thanks to 50Hertz Tingly Brittle: sweet, buttery, deeply chocolatey, and finished with that electric Sichuan-pepper sparkle that makes each bite linger just a second longer.
It’s the kind of dessert you bake for someone you like a lot.

Chef Doug Heilman developed this recipe with Valentine’s season in mind — when chocolate is mandatory, sharing is optional, and a little surprise goes a long way. Chopped into the batter alongside melty chocolate chunks, the brittle adds crunch, caramel notes, and a gentle tingle that turns a familiar bar cookie into something memorable.

The Tingly Brittle is currently available in our Tingly Gift Box or by itself on the 50Hertz website — perfect for baking now or gifting later.
Let’s make them.

Ingredients
Makes one 9 × 9–inch pan
Dry:
-
1¼ cups all-purpose flour
-
1 teaspoon baking powder
-
¼ teaspoon salt
Wet:
-
6 tablespoons butter
-
¾ cup brown sugar, lightly packed
-
1 egg, beaten
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
1 teaspoon water
Mix-ins:
-
3 ounces 50Hertz Tingly Brittle, roughly chopped
-
3 ounces chocolate chunks
Method
1. Prep the pan
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Grease a 9 × 9–inch square baking pan, line with parchment paper, then grease again.
2. Mix the dry ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Set aside.
3. Brown the butter
Place the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat and cook until lightly browned bits appear and it smells nutty.
Remove from heat and immediately stir in the brown sugar.
Transfer to a bowl and let cool slightly.
4. Build the batter
Whisk the egg and vanilla into the cooled butter–sugar mixture.
Add the wet ingredients to the flour and stir until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chunks and chopped Tingly Brittle, distributing evenly through the dough.
5. Bake
Transfer the dough to the prepared pan and press into an even layer.
Bake for about 25 minutes, or until golden and set in the center.
6. Cool & slice
Let the blondies cool in the pan on a rack before cutting.
Serve… preferably with someone you like. ❤️
