Is your Sichuan Pepper Oil kosher certified?

While our Sichuan Pepper Oil is made with all kosher ingredients, we have not yet invested in a kosher certification.

Is your Sichuan Pepper Oil 100% vegan?

Yes, the product is 100% vegan. We use premium non-GMO cold-pressed food-grade rapeseed oil, infused with fresh Sichuan peppers.

Why do you use rapeseed oil?

Rapeseed oil has been used in cooking for thousands of years and is often described as the "blood of Sichuan cuisine". We use premium non-GMO cold-pressed rapeseed oil in our product. It is made from low-erucic-acid, non-GMO strains of rapeseeds. People often get confused about the difference between canola oil and rapeseed oil. These two plant-based cooking oils, however, are different. Both canola and rapeseed belong to the cabbage or mustard family. The plants’ flowers both have that characteristic bright yellow color, and you get oil from both seeds. Although rapeseed oil is one of the oldest edible oils in the world, some strains have a high percentage of erucic acid. That is why Canada came up with a new, low-acid strain of the plant in the 1970s through traditional plant crossbreeding. The newly developed plant was renamed “canola” – a combination of “CAN” for “Canada” and "OLA " for "Oil, low acid".


Why do we charge for shipping?

Because shipping is very expensive, despite what Amazon had us believed. We intend to reflect the true cost of the product itself. The shipping rates we charge are less than the actual cost of shipping, and we subsidize the rest. We promise that shipping is not a revenue for us, but a large expense.

What shipping services do you use?

We use USPS First Class Mail for orders of 1 bottle because it's less than 1lb, and USPS Priority Mail for most other shipments and UPS Ground for larger boxes. These are the fastest reasonably priced shipping services, promising—but not guaranteeing—delivery in 2 to 3 business days for USPS Priority Mail and 2 to 5 days for UPS.

When will my order arrive?

We strive to process and ship orders within 1 to 2 business days. After we ship your order, it generally takes another 2 to 3 business days for delivery. But large orders shipped via UPS can take up to 5 business days for delivery to the West Coast. See following entries for more details.

My shipment is still not delivered after a long time, what should I do?

Neither carriers nor 50Hertz can guarantee delivery of your order by a certain date. If your package is not delivered by the date promised by the carrier, please do email us. We can check the tracking information the carrier provides for you. That information is also available to you in the shipping confirmation email. Sometimes the carriers update the delivery status prematurely because of their daily delivery quota. Usually packages are delivered within a day or two after that. If your order does not arrive in a reasonable time—or if it arrives damaged—we will replace it right away at no cost to you.

What should I do about damage?

If your shipment is damaged upon receipt, please take clear photos of the damage and email them to us at tingle@50hertzfoods.com within 7 days so that we can quickly assess the situation and provide a replacement. Please also retain the box and packaging until you hear from us about whether we will need it to file a claim for the damage.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we are happy to ship our Sichuan Pepper products internationally, although shipment obviously takes longer to arrive and the postage is more expensive. Some countries levy customs duties which will be passed on to the recipients by the courier usually with a paper notice. It is your responsibility to pay the duties before the package will be released. However, sometimes this process does not occur and the package is delivered without any charges.

What is your return policy?

We typically do not accept returns or offer refunds, except in the case of damaged, defective or spoiled items. However, we want you to be happy with your purchase, so if you have any concerns or are not satisfied with your products, please contact us at tingle@50hertzfoods.com within 7 days of receiving your order. Where returns are possible, refunds will be issued for unopened product only, not including shipping.
